Last week we began our exciting and ambitious new 6 week project with Wirral CAMHS. This was to tie in with our ongoing work with people, especially children who suffer with mental health issues.
Wirral CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services) are an organisation who help children and young people suffering with serious mental ill health conditions relating to violent or angry behaviour, depression, eating difficulties, low self-esteem, anxiety, obsessions or compulsions, sleep problems, self-harming and the effects of abuse or traumatic events.
Coach Holly was on hand to offer a light coaching session with numerous games and challenges designed to encourage the young people to engage in physical activity and to enjoy the benefits of exercise. She also talked about the importance of nutrition to help with their mood and general wellbeing.
In addition to this continued mental health focus, the Foundation continues to develop its partnership links with substantial partner agencies and last week was no different when also we met with the Joseph Paxton, Wirral Hospital School to set up a special programme of exercise delivery with their pupils.
This very exciting and ambitious project, which will begin on 20th April and will be led by our very own Coach Holly will see us developing a programme with the school to utilise our unique circuit style training and nutrition programme to improve their health and well being whilst developing their physical literacy, self confidence and interpersonal skills.
This brilliant school is designed to cater for students who have medical needs which often involve aspects of mental health, e.g. anxiety, depression, self- harming, eating disorders, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and personality disorders. These are often combined with developmental disorders such as ASD and Asperger's Syndrome some of which may be undiagnosed or have late diagnosis.
We have many more projects with vulnerable groups and organisations in the coming weeks and months which we are excited about and will endeavour to keep you all informed.
Thanks as always for your continued interest and support.
