Lung cancer group

Today was another landmark day for The UTS Foundation as we welcomed our second group of cancer patients to take part in a gentle, structured programme of exercise with Coach Holly.

As with all illnesses and exercise programmes, each one has to be specifically designed by our expert team at UTS to meet the needs of the individual, or group. Once again, Coach Holly Kim Parsons was on hand to offer a simple, but effective coaching session to help patients develop the skills and confidence needed to improve their overall health and well being.

Here at the UTS Foundation we are determined to make everyone welcome and today was no exception. It was impressive to see the whole group bond quickly and commit to the session for what can be an intimidating experience for anyone, not just cancer patients, when entering new surroundings and, especially a gym environment.

This 6 week project takes place every Thursday for the next 5 weeks between 2 and 3PM. It will be working with adults being treated for and recovering from lung cancer, some of whom, regularly attend a lung cancer support group (which is open to all lung cancer patients) based at Kylemore Community Centre, Pensby. This takes place on the 1st Thursday in the month for patients with lung cancer and the contact number is Kay Hughes (Lung Cancer Nurse) 0151 604 7482.

There are still spaces available on this course and we welcome anyone recovering from lung cancer; including family members, or friends who wish to come along and work alongside them.

If you, or anyone you know could benefit from this FREE programme please contact Tony Berry on 0151 294 3172, or email uts.tonyberry@gmail.com
