UTS Foundation joins Inspiration Day with Local Schools

Last week the UTS Foundation was out and about working with some of our key strategic partners to to help improve mental health, physical health and social well being.

As part of the 'Active in Mind' project we worked in collaboration with the Clare Mount Specialist Sports College, Holy Spirit Primary School and the NHS.

The project is funded by the Youth Sport Trust, linked to their work with Sport England. Active in Mind gives us an exciting opportunity to develop and implement innovative approaches for promoting regular physical activity to young people who are either currently inactive, or those with low levels of emotional and mental wellbeing.

The aim of the project is to reduce stress and anxiety, raise awareness of mental health, and create a ‘nurture group’ environment for those in schools in most need of support, using sport and physical activity as a vehicle for change.

We sent over some of our top coaches; including Foundation Ambassador Dave Bolton to offer an inspirational talk about his battle with cancer and how he has overcome so many obstacles.

International Basketball Player for Wales, Neal Allen also joined our Foundation Team to offer a series of coaching sessions as part of Special Olympics European Basketball Week, which was tied into the event.

Neal has 18 caps for Wales, playing against Ireland, Luxembourg, Scotland, Andorra, Gibraltar, Azerbaijan, San Marino.

Check out the amazing pics showing the Foundation team working with a fantastic bunch of young people utilising the power of sport, physical activity and nutrition to improve their health and well being.

Thanks to Dan and everyone at Claremount Specialist Sports College and Holy Spirit Primary School for hosting us for this brilliant project.
