For those of you considering attending our FREE Pilates and Yoga classes, which begins on TUESDAY 5th and THURSDAY 7th of DECEMBER at 9.30AM respectively you may want to watch this fantastic video about how classes like Pilates can help.

UTS Tribe member and Pilates Instructor, Deborah Paterson has been helping Ali who is overcoming cancer, chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy with the help of Pilates. Check out her video (attached) about her journey through surgery, treatment and recovery, both mentally and physically.

We pride ourselves on not just how we can help people, but why we do it and what is the best way to effectively and meaningfully do so. To demonstrate this, Deb has kindly sent over a recent research paper entitled 'The Effects of Clinical Pilates Exercises on Patients Developing Lymphedema after Breast Cancer Treatment' (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5351459/).

The results showed that after treatment, the symptoms recovered significantly in both groups. Reductions in the severity of lymphedema, improvements in the social appearance anxiety scale scores, quality of life scores, and upper extremity functions scores in the clinical Pilates exercise group were greater than those in the control group.

Pilates and Yoga is not just great for help with recovery from cancer, it can also help people with other health conditions that are affecting their lives and WE WELCOME ANYONE who could benefit from attending our classes.
